Writing for a website turns out to be a daunting project.
Impossible to be succinct and satisfactory;
impossible to do more than convey
a wisp of an impression of a lifetime's mixture of struggle and delight.

As for what delights me, I love the living beings in my life:
my spouse Pat; my family, now spanning three generations;
friends; my clients, past and current.

I love the sounds and silences of the land where we have built our house
and live with three dogs, a fluctuating flock of chickens,
and the multiplicity of wild creatures who inhabit the meadow and woodlands.

Some of the happiest hours of my life are spent out in nature:
my garden, the pond, and the wide delicious world beyond.
Dirt is my therapist, these days.

If dirt is my therapist, language restores me.
My idea of extreme luxury is an afternoon with some sleeping dogs
and a good novel beside the wood stove.
I have required the solace of poetry since early childhood.

I've been a therapist since 1993.
During my 20s and 30s I was a teacher.
I was educated in England (where I grew up),
and the United States (where I seem to have rooted.)
I am a parent, and a delighted grandmother.

Education:
Cheltenham Ladies' College, Cheltenham, U.K.
Vassar College, AB, Developmental Psychology
Syracuse University School of Social Work, MSW

Specialized Training:

AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy):
I began my training in 2010, and became a certified AEDP clinician in 2014.
In 2016 I earned Certification as an AEDP Supervisor, and now I’m a senior faculty member.
 I teach Essential Skills courses for the AEDP Institute, and other seminars and workshops.
